One Month Challenge

One-month challenge: Day 20

I did nothing today! And I don’t care.

So… this is going to be a short post.

I tried to look at the video I was supposed to tackle today, but apparently there’s some issue with the Unity version I’m using and the package I’m supposed to install…. so I took a break instead.

There’ll be time to catch up after tomorrow!

Here’s an account of my day:

  • Worked a full day (finished up that email newsletter and sent it, we got a sale from one of the clients who received it, worked on an outdoor ad artwork)
  • Spent time connecting with my loved ones and friends
  • Advised a fellow Singaporean who has a Canadian boyfriend πŸ˜‚ (Sure seems like there’s plenty of us, eh?)
  • Talked to my mom
  • Connected with a fellow HD Mani from Singapore!
  • Meditated with Lacy’s 2nd DI from Unblocked M

How does this relate to my goal?

Like I said, did nada for this, but I feel pretty good about today. I guess today was more about connecting with people and building relationships.

I got plenty of good advice and ideas at work from my colleagues; I met more people like me online; and I got to connect with my loved ones.

It’s not as achievement-oriented and thus seems “smaller” in my mind, but as I’m writing this out, I realise these “smaller” activities are just as important as the “big” ones.

I still have 43 videos to do, but I have 10 days to do 4.3 videos a day and I know I’ll be able to knock out at least twice that on my full free days. I can’t do that if I’m burnt out, and if I have some breathing space, I’m going to take it. So there’s a little method to my madness/laziness.

And that’s my challenge for you today!

Take a break from whatever you’re doing. It’s okay to take a rest. You don’t have to go full speed ahead every day. Honour your body’s need for rest, if it asks for it. You are not a machine. You are beautiful and sacred and pure, and you honour yourself when you love yourself.

Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is to love AND choose ourselves, especially if we’re not used to do doing so.

So if you needed a permission slip to love yourself and take a break, here it is.

Signed, sealed and delivered to the taskmaster who lives in your head.

And on that note, I’m going to rest and take care of myself tonight.

Always wishing you the best,
Your friend Gerry

This post (Day 20) is part of a one-month challenge I’m working on.
